Do You Still Dream?
Hey guys welcome back. In my last post I talked about how people reacted to me not wanting to take over the family business. To see the full post you can go here
I ended it by talking about how I was really motivated by Jim Rohn to start dreaming again. For the majority of years after graduating High School, and going a few years of College, I pretty much knew what my future was going to look like.
Run the family business.
By now you should know that I recently decided to go a different route..
My regular circle of friends wanted nothing to do with that. They were so comfortable with where they were, it got to the point where I couldn’t really be around them much.
You would be surprised on how hard it was to find people who still had a dream in life. Who thought differently. Someone who understood the concept that in order for them to get where they wanted to get, they had to change their mindset.
I remember hearing an audio where Jim Rohn said these exact words “You are an average of the 5 people you spend most of your time with”
This hit me like a brick wall. I started to think about the people who I was hanging out with, and could instantly figure out why I was having issues moving forward with my mindset.
This led me to look for networking events or groups in my area where I could meet like minded people. It took some time, actually a good amount of time.
The group was of about 10 people which really made it cool since it was pretty intimate. One of the guys there, I felt really resonated with my personality. He was a local business owner who had started a local Pest Control company, you can actually check out his site www.pestcontrolmcallentexas.com .After the meetup. I went up to him and asked what made him start his own company.
We went on to talk for another hour about why he started his company, and the hurdles he went through in staying positive through the process.
I honestly felt like he had given me so much knowledge in that hour then I had received in the last 2 years!
I was hooked with this group. I felt like a fire had been set under me and I was ready to focus on all my goals I wanted to achieve.
It took some time but I FINALLY found a group of people that were meeting at a local coffee shop every couple weeks. I took a lot for me to make the first drop in. I guess because I wasn’t really aware of what to expect. But I am so glad I did.
Man, from the moment I showed up and sat down to introduce myself, I could feel the positive energy!
I felt like I was finally home!
We all talked about where we were at with certain goals we were in the process of hitting.
Things such as..
Think about a dream you might have put away. And start dreaming again!
